recently, chongqing cummins engine company ltd. (ccec) created a new record in every employee every community (eeec) participation rate in one action, with 863 employees participated, accounting for 66.2% of 1304 employees, contributing 863 eeec hours. more than 2500 families and near 10,000 residents benefited from this activity.
from the very early days of the plant at ccec, most of ccec employees lived in the three communities surrounding ccec. in these three communities, there are 30 residential buildings for employees built in 1970s and 1980s. since it has been a long time after the construction of these buildings, the paint on the external walls of them came off seriously, showing an unsightly appearance. meanwhile, because the residents have not been exposed to the latest environmental regulations, requirements, or education, they have been at a disadvantage in terms of being able to progressively develop their living standards and surrounding community accordingly.
on july 17, 2012, ccec cit organized 863 employees, including the company's senior leadership team, to wash and paint the external walls of these 30 residential buildings. in addition, ccec employees assisted in clean-up efforts of garbage and trash surrounding the local residential buildings. also, the cit partnered with the experts from global village of beijing environment education center to carry out “low-carbon living, green home” training towards the residents in an effort to teach them the importance of preserving their environment through effective separation of refuse in their homes, proper classification of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, and how to recognize risks posed by their day to day actions.
